Sophia (she/her) is the Administrative Coordinator for the Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance. She is a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in East Asian Area Studies and Music. She comes to advocacy after four years of performing as a lion dancer in the Philadelphia area, through which she learned about various challenges to APIA communities, such as language access, the immigration process, and gentrification. Inspired by what she saw in her community, she then volunteered as a language and cultural advocate at a Chinese urgent care clinic in North Philadelphia. Having graduated, she is excited to start her career journey with API PA and join in the work of building power in APIA communities.
