Aminah Arshad (she/her/dia) is a Community Organizer in Central PA with API PA. Aminah is a daughter of Acehnese/Indonesian refugees. She immigrated to the United States at the age of fifteen. All of her work comes from her lived experience of the firsthand struggles faced by communities experiencing educational inequality, including generational trauma and gender discrimination. After graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, she started a career as a social worker where she gained tools and skills towards building better and stronger communities. Having been raised in Malaysia and Harrisburg, she is familiar with the difficulties and challenges that immigrants are experiencing. She is delighted by her newfound AAPI community where she shares her deep-rooted experience with marginalized communities. Now with API PA, Aminah is ready to engage and empower her community, and fight for our rights.
