About API PA
Why We Exist
We are living through one of the most significant political moments in US history – not only has a global pandemic laid bare the structural inequities that are inherent in our socio-economic system, but we are also witnessing a moment of rupture in our political imagination due to the Black Lives Matter Movement. These are critical times. These are exciting times. Now more than ever, Asian Americans in Pennsylvania need a political home to fight for everything our people need to survive and thrive, no matter where we are in the commonwealth.
Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance (API PA) exists to build long-term power for APIs in Pennsylvania, by coordinating political, electoral, and legislative work to hold our elected officials accountable, engaging in culturally competent and linguistically accessible direct voter contact with our communities, and building solidarity with other aligned communities of color across the state.
what we do
Thanks to the work of API PA and our partners, API voters doubled their vote share in 2020 election. We need to come together and ensure our leaders represent our interests. That’s why API PA is organizing in our communities not just before an election, but year-round. We’re listening to our community members, working together on the issues that matter to us, and holding our elected officials accountable.
As the statewide API organization, API PA is working with our partners in the AAPI Power Caucus to build the first-ever API legislative agenda for Pennsylvania. We will use this legislative agenda based on our communities need to hold our elected officials accountable to our needs.
We need leaders who want to serve API communities. API PA recruits and trains candidates, trains organizers and staff to fight for what we need, and offers leadership training to members of our partner organizations.
